Thank You Volunteer Sewers!

We want to extend a huge thank you to five talented volunteers for offering to create a set of Trailblazers-branded masks!

Led by one of our volunteer mentors at HMP Wandsworth, five women based in south-west London have devoted their time and expertise to sewing eye-catching green masks complete with the Trailblazers logo. These are already being worn proudly by our staff and volunteers as we go about our work, both in prisons and in the community.

Earlier in lockdown, the group had kindly volunteered sewing masks for frontline NHS workers when there was a shortage of PPE. And now Lizzie – a mentor with over 5 years’ experience and a stalwart of the Trailblazers community – stepped forward to offer the same thing to Trailblazers.

The finished products are, as you can see, both smart and functional, helping us to look stylish and suave while staying safe during the second wave. They come in two sizes, fitting snugly and comfortably with the help of elastic fasteners and a wire nose-bridge. Crucially, they can be put in the washing machine, making them endlessly reusable.

Thank you again to our kind sewing supremos – Melanie, Annie, Caroline, Pauline, and especially Lizzie – for producing these masks for us!
